Foundation Picnic Raises Over $1000
May 19, 2007
The picnic May 19, 2007 at Accotink Park in Springfield, Virginia raised over $1000 for the Foundation for the Children of Vietnam AND we had fun doing it! Thank you! Thank you!
Many individuals pitched in to make it successful, including the impromptu grillers Emily Le, Mark Mitchell, Dat Nguyen (aka 22), and Ben Hang; the Kodak-moment creators Jake Vu, Mark Martin and Thuy Van (priceless); greeting committee and ticketmasters M2 and Nakai (bear disguised as black german shepherd); the women volleyball team (your spikes earned new respect from the boys, and they want to know if you can be in beach attire for the rematch); the out-of-shape basketball players (you know who you are); Mimi who sold the most tickets; Jake who is taking credit for selling the most tickets; the underage magnet peddlers Dominique, Kiana and Kendrick (did we break any child labor laws?); and the chowing-downers (the rest of you).
Special thanks to Scottie-2-Hottie (Scott Au) who made it all happened. He reserved the volleyball court, camped out at the park at 7 am, shot anyone who dared to look at our picnic tables, bought food and drinks, cajoled his friends and relatives into coming, and even huffed and puffed on the basketball court to make sure you look good out there.
One attendee who shall remain anonymous (Josh) said he goes to all the Foundation fundraisers because they are fun, and not because his housemates twisted his arm. And oh yeah, it’s also for a good cause.
Thank you to all supporters of the Foundation. We currently help over 1000 orphans and handicapped children in Vietnam. You are a major player in changing their lives and giving them a brighter tomorrow.
