2014 Annual Letter
November 17, 2014
Dear Friends of Children of Vietnam,
Your very generous support last year allowed us to distribute a record-breaking 853 bicycles to children in 22 provinces in Vietnam. We partnered with churches, Buddhist temples, schools and orphanages to identify the neediest children. Because of your donation, children who previously had to walk several hours a day to and from school can now attend more easily and regularly. Additionally, the bikes are a valuable asset to their entire families as a basic means of transportation.
Rev. Ron Foster from Bethesda United Methodist Church accompanied us, as the church donated over 400 bicycles as part of their Christmas Eve’s offering. In the Mekong Delta, accessible only by small boats, the children had never seen a foreigner. They kept touching the blond hair of our American woman friend and high-fiving the pastor, curious to see if these people are of the same flesh. In a leper colony outside Kon Tum, the ethnic minorities there cannot speak Vietnamese but bowed their heads deeply in gratefulness. At a school in Phan Ri, hundreds of children erupted into cheers and teachers cried as our van and truck full of bicycles drove into the courtyard. These special moments will stay and remind us of the wonderful difference we make when we
For each $50 tax-deductible donation, we will purchase a bicycle for a child on your behalf. We will send you a picture of the child receiving your bicycle gift, holding a sign with your name after our 2015 mission trip. Enclosed you will find a photo of the lives you have touched. You can also find more pictures from our mission trips on our website. We have much to be thankful for in our lives. Sharing some of our blessings through the gift of a bicycle will not only give them hope of a better tomorrow but also let them know that they matter, that someone cares. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Yours in gratitude,
