2015 Annual Letter
December 10, 2015
Dear Friends of Children of Vietnam,
At this time of year, we are thankful for the many blessings we have. Our homes are filled with the smells and sounds of the approaching holidays, as we busily send cards, fill our shopping lists and cook for those we love. Our dinner tables are overflowing with food. We celebrate our abundance with friends and family. Our children excitedly look forward to the coming season, filled with hope and anticipation. Yes, my friends, we are truly blessed.
Life for children in Vietnam is a stark contrast. Food can be scarce, and clean water is difficult to find. Many schools have no playgrounds—no swings, no slides, only empty spaces. Yet, the children try to play, kicking around a blown-up plastic bag “soccer ball” as their only toy. For others, there is no school and no time for play. For them, working to help their families is their childhood, walking the streets selling cigarettes, lottery tickets and chewing gum. They hope for little and expect less. One young barefoot boy timidly asked if he could drink the broth of my “pho” noodle soup when I finish eating.
You can help us give these children hope. At Children of Vietnam, we believe every child deserves a chance at tomorrow. Through the generosity of people like you, we have changed the lives of many children in Vietnam. Projects such as tuition scholarships enable children that otherwise would not be able to attend school. Perhaps more significant is our bike project. With your support over the past six years, we have distributed over 2000 bicycles in 24 provinces in Vietnam. These bicycles are vital to the children’s future because they not only allow them to attend school in remote regions but are also the family’s only mode of transportation. And shouldn’t riding a bike be a part of being a child?!
This year we are again asking for your support of the bicycle project. For each $50 tax-deductible donation, we will purchase a bicycle for a child on your behalf. We will send you a picture of the child receiving your bicycle gift, holding a sign with your name after our 2016 mission trip. You will know you have given that child hope!
Please take a moment today and share some of your abundance with a child that has so little. Your gift will literally change his/her life.
Yours in gratitude,
Tammy Paige Goddard, President Phuong Phoenix Bui, Co-Founder
